Why might a piano need to be restored?

Interested in having your piano restored?

If you’re interested in having your piano restored, please call me. I will inspect your instrument and provide you with a written detailed proposal as to what will be needed to return your piano to its maximum performance capability. I warranty my work for 5 years. Your restored piano will maintain its value for another generation.

A piano not only serves the art of music, it is a work of art itself. A wonderfully complex machine, it has thousands of moving parts, a framework and soundboard supporting tremendous string tension, and beautifully finished cabinetry. Although remarkably durable, pianos are subject to deterioration with time and use. Felt wears, stings break, wooden structures weaken and crack, and the exterior finish loses its beauty.

Weighing off an action so that the touch weight and return of the key is responsive to the touch.

An important feature of voicing is assuring that the hammer travels and contacts the string correctly. Burning, spacing, and traveling are vitally important.

When necessary, we install new sounding board, pinblocks, bridges, strings, and tuning pins. Sometimes the soundboard can be repaired and refinished.

Warranty

All work is backed by our 5-year warranty — the same as a brand new Steinway. Whether your cherished Steinway is in need of custom refinishing, or replacement of the action or soundboard, it couldn’t be in better hands!
